Garden of Eat'n

Garden of Eat'n

💡
A food court is one of the anchor spaces within a shopping mall so the Garden of Eat'n acts as a central space which emulates the typical shopping experience via an automated system that delivers a wide range of cuisines to each dining booth.
Ephemeral views are provided through this exclusive experience that is accompanied by custom scents that are released into the booths for a nostalgic adventure.

✏️ Sketch Ideas

For this render, I wanted to invoke a sense of grandeur and digitalisation whilst still staying true to the vintage mall aesthetic. The first step was to set up a view for the scene in order to understand which parts would need to be modelled in detail. I did this as a simple line drawing.

I increased the field of view for this scene so that there is more to see and so that the scale seems larger than it actually is to play on the theme of a large space. After that, I traced the lines and added other elements to create a similar illustration as shown below. This was so that I could understand what needed to be modelled.

This render feels slightly too generic and the intricate details and objects have also got lost in translation from exterior to interior views. So, instead, I will try to set up an alternative view that showcases the grandeur I initially set out to capture.

I've now set up a different view, similar to that of Baroque churches to emphasise the use of shopping objects and instruments as the architecture itself.

This render and the colour palette is a lot more successful. There are still a few things to tweak such as the central ornament piece needs a texture and further tweaking in post-production.
